“I’m going to wash my hands again, then use a paper towel to push open that door…”
…
Anyone else worried that when we next see Tyler, we WON’T see the bottle, and nothing will be said about whether he drank or not for several issues until a situation occurs that its critically important that Tyler has (or doesn’t have) a super power?
Look again at the first panel – Lester is opening the restroom door and we are seeing him as though we are inside the room itself. (Do remember that the toilet -cubicle- is a separate ‘room’ -inside- the restroom proper.)
It is on the inside of the restroom- look to the right-hand side of the panel, you can see the hinges on the open door (which also suggests that the restroom door opens outward. If there’s no latch, it is then a simple manner to push the door open from the inside without touching it with your hands if you don’t trust other people to have washed their hands properly. A nice touch).
Whoever said that “super-detailed introspection and self-knowledge” is the power Sarah needs because it’ll make her realize she never really lost her powers- looks like they should get a cookie. 🙂
Although… that power sure is taking its sweet time in making her realize that. :-/
Maybe this thing is more like a filesystem check, so to speak. It does not even try to dig for anything specific.
Eventually it will find whatever is lost. And everything else not accessible normally, but recoverable.
But mostly it will hog lots of resources, for a long while.
Cecil saw through the Moon-shadow costume almost right way, even though everybody else has no idea who is inside the costume. “Well, there goes Moon-shadow! What a great guy. Hey, has anybody seen Tyler? Oh, there he is, over by that tree. Man, he looks out of breath.” Nope, not making the connection.
I understand your (paying) work load significantly reduces your time to work on this strip. So, may I thank you for the two week update instead of the usual 3-4?
“Super introspection and self analysis” doesn’t mean she knows a lot about science. It’s entirely possible that “a billion brain cells” sounds like the right amount to her!
They said not to knock self-introspection, but given the effect I’ve seen in the last 2 pages, I will. I’ve learned from friends who are addicts that self-knowledge never helped them change. That seems relevant given the AA-like support group this girl’s attending. I don’t think the bottle she was given is adequate payment for anything she did, except in the ironic “kill off the henchmen” sort of way.
Wait a minute. Sarah Bartlett said she got mind-controlled into transforming into a form without shapeshifting powers. But she’s now in her original, real form- which is a form that has said powers.
She has two forms; six in the morning until six at night, she’s a little girl. Six in the evening until six in the morning, she’s an adult woman. She can’t control the change, and it doesn’t appear that either form can shape-shift OUT of the form she’s in.
Wondering if her powers will be used creatively to great effect. This could be fleshed out in a variety of ways:
Predictive – Asked how some problem can be solved, “If I do X I can achieve the desired result.”
Even more powerful than predictive, full-on Butterfly Effect – Suddenly grabs a butterfly, “I just stopped a monsoon from killing thousands of people.”
Crime solving – Holding a murder weapon, “I am holding an item that was used by John Doe to murder the victim.”
“Angry merchandise is dangerous merchandise…”
“I’m going to wash my hands again, then use a paper towel to push open that door…”

I’d have placed that sign on the inside of the restroom door, myself. Though if I had spares they might go on the outside as well.
It is on the inside. He pulled the door open. Perspective is funky, but it’s there.

Ah, so it is. I sit corrected!

Your cliffhanger theory makes waaaaaaay too much sense…
There has been a lot of “don’t upset the merchandise” and yeah, Chekhov’s gun.
I think we will see the empty flask on the last page of this issue. The real question is who will be dropping it.
But will we see the way it will have been emptied?
Who thinks they came through the sewers and somehow out of the toilet?
Actually, I think being dumped on top of the toilet would be more likely.
Nope, but good for misdirection. Them arriving anywhere rather than the shop floor was probably deliberate.
They still appear to be dry.

Maybe it only works as advertised when she’s in her child form.

Me! I came up with that! Yay, me!
“either a fellow agent or someone in a black cape and a helmet”
Since when has Cecil known Tyler’s alternate identity? Or was that a coincidence?
Cecil is seemingly the only person who can see through the Moon Shadow disguise. It might be an aspect of his own powers.
The moment he first ran into Tyler as Moonshadow. The Septos Invasion arc, IIRC.

Good timing, it’s a good thing Lester didn’t arrive about 30 seconds earlier.
I don’t believe they were actually USING the men’s room. I think the Flea was just trolling, the way he does!
No, but Lester would have been using the men’s room.
Good point.
Or maybe he goes there exactly because he doesn’t want to deal with this sort of.
On the upside, he’s still a party chaperone and now it looks like he gets to deliver the kids back.
The Tres Amigos are back again!
Yes, that is the title I give them. No one can make me change my mind.
“Were-Child”… Does that make her this universe’s version of Shazam?
Yes, but in a rather depressing way instead.
But she can eat for less at the buffet and get the childs discount at the theatre.
But then there are films she wouldn’t be allowed into the cinema to see…
Sure she would, she’d just have to wait until after six!
Her new power does not pull punches. That line about eating healthy hits home.
Am I the only one who looked at her comment and immediately said, “she’s off by at least two orders of magnitude”?
Human brains contain about 100 billion neurons and 90 billion glial cells.
If she’s only got a billion cells and change in her brain, that would be normal for, say, a rabbit.
Maybe only one billion are ‘like this’, and the other 99% are unaffected by her new power?
Shapeshifters ability could change brain cell count. That would be the only way she would know how many she has in the first place given her powers.
Maybe we only hear a part of the itrospection and the beginning is cut off.

I feel so bad for realizing this only now.
