I thought she was trying to incriminate Tyler, but the other possibility instead is she:
1. thinks Tyler IS indeed behind the glitching of security systems, and
2. is trying to cover up for him.
Ultimately, what is her plan? How is she related to the plot of this arc, of Power & Glory and Sarah Bartlett trying to get her own superpowers back? Or is she another independent actor with her own scheme that just happens to have intertwined with the main plot because of this single location/event (a superkids’ get-together)?
She _is_ trying to incriminate Tyler. She pulled that null-whatsit out of her glove at the end of the last page. I wonder if she is related to those “Adherents of the Unseen”.
Panel 3: “… until we can be sure someone didn’t plant this on Tyler…”
If she was fully dedicated to falsely incriminating Tyler, she wouldn’t have bothered with Toby’s suggestion. There’s nothing else in her/Pistonic’s/the EDL’s/the chaperones’ hands to indicate someone else is the real culprit, even where their info is faulty.
Remember that these false signals are because of Zodon; this woman- as little as we know of her- is likely not involved with Zodon’s plot. She likely believes the haywire signals are indeed Tyler’s fault; if so, she’s either going to a) reinforce them or b) dismiss them as fits her purposes. She’s now keeping her options open rather than just going for the most likely conclusion of her data.
Some of the issues are because of Zodon.
It is entirely possible that some of them are not because of Zodon, and are because of her(or someone she’s working with) or some other third party.
She’s not set on pinning this on Tyler too hard because in this world, there are ways to tell with absolute certainty that someone is telling the truth. All it would take is a telepath, a mage with a suitable spell, or the right bit of technology, to cross-check Tyler saying that he didn’t bring it in.
She pulled that device out of her glove in the last comic. She is the one who planted it on Tyler, she just knows that comming on too strong about it is, itself, suspicious.
Where the robo-carneys are probably doing stuff up to a level acceptable to Pistonic and the EDL, I’d say Angie and Prospero’s attempts to win/beat the house/countermeasures may be pushing things too far.
Not every anomaly is necessarily something done out of malice/by a miscreant. Lots of stuff happen out of ordinary, innocent, sometimes even well-meaning acts. Life is chaos.
Wasn’t his destination Antarctica or something? Instead he ended up in his old hideout (which is now the freaky powers shop) and Ron ended up somewhere in the same building where he was.
I was playing the DARKNESS 2 pc game a few weeks before this came out and on the tv in the nuthouse there was a story about old gods that talked about something very like the ADHERENTS OF THE UNSEEN. I do not think this is a real group in the comic, I do not think that is a E-NULLIFIER, I think its a flash drive she just happened to have on her.
Remember back before dc comics revealed that the MANHUNTERS were bad guys and there were lots of weird robots infiltrating superhero and villain groups and spying on everyone.
Maybe she is the robot from the coffie shop, who has lots of brothers studying meta-humans, one in each school.
Cue the really strong mojo in three…two…one…

I’m curious how option 2 is at all indicated in the last comic or two.

I think Skull’s right, actually. She may just want to make sure she doesn’t *look* like she’s already set against him.

This task is the purchase price for powers at power and glory and she is the girl?
Okay, okay, points taken. I concede my idea.
Intermittent trans-dimensional shenanigans? That’s what you get for inviting Charles to the party.
Could also be whatever Ron’s been doing.
I’m thinking it’s whatever Zodon’s been doing with the sphere.
My money’s on this: http://ps238.nodwick.com/comic/2016-09-30/

My money’s on all four of you being right. Hence, “intermittent”. One thing after the other.
I think you’re most likely right, reminds me of the time Tyler’s decision got downloaded into his mind.
You may have the date stamp on this one wrong. Not quite 2018 yet.
It’s the 18th of December aka Mrs. the Poet’s birthday the 2017 is at the front of the string.
He’s referring to the actual picture, if you go to save it it clearly lists as 2018 and not 2017 in the filename for the jpg.
Revenant will still be able to get in through a air vent.
The master of disguise could no doubt walk through the door with a Hero ID possibly actually through the closed door with confiscated tech.
Wow. That wizard is two eyes cooler than Ningauble.
Fafhrd & Grey Mouser ref FTW!
Could the wards be the thing that messed with the bully’s teleportation?
Unlikely, since he wound up at his destination without his victim. More likely Ron’s newfound abilities fouled him up.

I can’t shake the feeling that “Adherents of the Unseen” is meant to be a specific reference to something else.
“Invisible College”, perhaps?

…Is that a sideways Discworld reference?
