Hmm… it really does not reflect well on Tyler’s tradecraft that he missed her. Sure, he was distracted, but when you’re training to be the Robin of the universe…

I am glad to see drama averted between him and Cecil, although I wonder why he didn’t just say “I only just now found out about the party myself. I was just going to play video games with Ron.”

It’s not the years, it’s the mileage. Although Tyler’s less interesting in some regards than Cecil.

Let’s see, he’s been a part of two extraterrestrial alien invasions (technically, the Dax-Ra thing was more of a raid, but we’ll pad the resume), an extradimensional alien incursion, gone walkabout in multiple dimensions, hung around the Revenant investigating meta-corporations and recently had a stint coordinating teams spread across multiple dimensions and star systems.

And that’s just the stuff we know about.

Panel 2: (a) Have we seen any reference to Tyler receiving alerts (from whom? Probably the Revenant — or is it an EDL thing?) if someone’s cell phone is nearby at all before? Maybe I’m just forgetful, but it looks like a complete non sequitur.

Panel 2: (b) If Cecil “lost” Sarah, how did he get the invitation?

Panel 2: (c) Has Cecil really not heard about that stage of shadowing someone called “waiting for them to exit a place with only one door”?

Panel 4: Tyler really should have told Cecil as well that the sleepover has turned into a night of metahuman kids being everywhere. This seems to be the first time they are discussing the sleepover; I guess I forgot that Cecil was originally planned to be invited as well as Ron (page for 2016-05-16).

Panel 5: (a) Why would Cecil need another invitation, since he has the one he showed Tyler (regardless of how he got it)? This feels clumsy.

Panel 5: (b) Why would Cecil need to “infiltrate”? He’s presumably going to be getting in as Tyler’s guest.

Panel 5: (c) (Responding to Cecil’s question) There’s a new guy in the EDL who can detect peoples’ souls. I don’t think your cloaking device can hide from that.

“There’s a new guy in the EDL who can detect peoples’ souls. I don’t think your cloaking device can hide from that.”
His cloaking device? You’re probably right. All the other eldritch souvenirs from other planes of existence? I’d bet at least one of those would confuse a being such as Necron (or whatever his name was).

Actually, thinking about it, given that Cecil basically transformed into Kid Cthulhu during the battle with Order and Chaos . . . I can see much hilarity ensuing from Cecil, wearing his jacket, interacting with Necronomik.

“I must inform my teammates that the soul of an Eldritch Being is intertwined with this child, and he is enveloped by another Eldritch Being! It is a thing with three souls!”

So, he’s like an eldritch turducken?
“Hi. I’m Cecil, your friendly neighborhood cthulhumanhotep. I’m here to help.”

To add to that, we know that Cecil looks rather… Cthuluesque in that other dimension, it would be interesting to see how the new cape responds to him and his trenchcoat walking in.

      1 – it’s Revenant. You don’t question it.

      2. there are hundreds of them as just about anyone with a superpower got one. Finding one isn’t that hard especially considering how ego centric Tyler’s parents are.

      3. he’s a kid. That’s like asking if he just wants to look at candy and not buy any.

      4. It was planned to be a small sleep over… maybe he wanted to check if he could get permission before it turned into the nightmare sleep over that it has become. That and he didn’t know how Cecil or his parents might react about asking for a “non” powered kid who didn’t have any superpowers sleep over.

      5. Tyler wasn’t offering the invite because Cecil lacked one… it’s more of a… “I’m sorry I didn’t ask if you wanted to come over”

      6. Cecil is a little kid who doesn’t think things through. Need I remind anyone how much trouble he ran into when he took a walk through an alternate dimension and talking to forces of order and chaos much less any of his other adventures… or his looting habits?

      6. He’s not going to use a cloacking device and a magical jacket to sneak in. He going to wear a fake beard and glasses!

        1. – That doesn’t answer my question — and I can question whatever I want.

        2. Cecil says that the invitation is the same as the one Tyler discarded and Sarah picked up.

        3. I don’t understand this one.

        5. I thought Tyler had asked Cecil to come over. Or did he? Now I’m not sure.

          1. No, I don’t think it’s ever been shown that he has a cell-phone locator alert service thing. But it does make sense to have something like that, given his situation, so I don’t think it’s really a non sequitur, either.

          2. He lost track of her after he got the invitation from her. In fact, going back and re-reading the dialog, I think he didn’t even start following her until after he happened to notice that she had an invitation.

          3. He’s a kid. Patience is not his strong suit.

2, he kept following afterwards to further investigate.

3, what kid wants to wait anywhere. Once he couldn’t follow and spy/listen it was game over.

X, who would consider a meta invisible kid to not have an invitation when all meta kids in a large range received one. That alone is a disguise.

Yes, in 2016-05-16, Tyler specifies that he’ll ask to invite Ron and Cecil. But in 2016-07-04, he says he wants to ask if a (single) friend can sleep over. An obvious mis-speak, and Toby flies off before Tyler has a chance to correct himself — and of course, it’s all moot anyway.

At this point, it looks like Cecil just wants to see if his gadgets will let him break into the EDL tower.

I figured the reason he would want to infiltrate is because he doesn’t want to be pegged as having superpowers.

        6. I thought Cecil would have to infiltrate because Tyler probably can’t even enter on his own, let alone bring a guest. Remember, Tyler is a normal and the party was designed for Toby and the Meta-Kids.

Also, he would probably think infiltrating is more fun.

No, remember part of it is that Tyler’s parents are hoping for a meta-infection of their lesser son. It’s not that they totally don’t care about him.

Fake beard and glasses? The metahumans will never be able to see through that! DIABOLICAL!

(I’m serious. They can’t see through Moonshadow. How could they see through BEARD AND GLASSES KID?)

Does this comic have “character tags?” (Links to every comic that a particular character appears in). If not, it could use some. (Not as badly as “Girl Genius” needs character tags, but it would be nice).

Story arc tags would be even more helpful. They cross multiple books.

Sarah picks up the card. Sarah gives Cecil the card. (She either seeks him out to show him that Tyler is having a party which he is not invited to, or runs into Cecil and drops it, or throws it away while Cecil is invisibly stalking her. Cecil wished to learn more about her but she eventually went into the bathroom and Cecil lost interest.
Tyler doesn’t really want to go to his “parents” house if it can be avoided yet alone have his friends go there to meet his “parents”, however Ron convinced him to at least try. Cecil likely showed less interest in coming to Tyler’s house than Ron so
Tyler could have just not seen Cecil yet today, have not thought Cecil would be interested, or not want to show Cecil how bad his “home” life is.
I think Tyler actually handled Cecil’s concerns pretty well. A big part of Cecil’s relationship with Tyler is based on them being really cool agent spy guys together. Cecil found out about the time Toby was born that Tyler has been lying about stuff to simultaneously make him think he was a in on the conspiracy and keep him out of the real conspiracy. On some level Tyler keeping this from him seems like Tyler is still keeping his meta life from Cecil. Cecil tends to see life in the term of spy games and addressing this like an attempt to invite Ron over that got out of hand might translate to spy as Tyler is covering for the fact that he’s still keeping meta stuff from Cecil. Tyler gave Cecil an explanation that likely translated to spy as be advised going to this event might blow your cover as a meta human however if you think it will be useful for information gathering I can get you an invitation.
