As Zodon said in the last comic, this dimension has no superbeings; the folks coming out of the trans-dimensional portal are not natives. (They’re not even all from the same other dimension!)
As for who they are and why they showed up, look at it this way: Zodon is a supervillain who meddles in trans-dimensional travel. What kind of heroes stop those kinds of villains?
My first GURPS game was an ISWAT game. Never got very far, but I loved the characters I was playing with. Wish I could find another GURPS game to be in.
And the backpack. I am pretty sure those are straps like from thier peopels backpacks.
Could be she get’s requirted by them. When you have to enter other realities regulary, being protected by a guardian angel from damage and machine detection helps.
Hm. You know, in some ways, Ambriel is Moon Shadow Lite.
That is, she doesn’t have to do it in “hard mode,” where a mistake will get her maimed or killed, but she definitely needs gadgets (or, in her case, souvenirs) to have effective powers BEYOND letting other heroes get away without being caught. (Not that that’s a lax power, but it’s very limited despite its potency.)
I don’t know. Her Guardian Angel can also ‘retaliate’ against some things, basically anything that tried to hurt her or intends to hurt her. But you’re right in that she’s still pretty limited.
The key word is “retaliate”. Ambriel’s “Guardian Force” protects her from harm, and launches a counterattack against anyone or anything that attacks her, but she can’t just put herself into danger to trigger a counterattack. That’s why she needs weapons like the destructo-bat, or the gear she’s wearing in the banner.
Still, Ambriel has always struck me as one of the most mature of the PS238 students. She’s as smart and responsible as Tyler, but thanks to her “Guardian Force” and having better parents than Ultima and Sovereign Marlocke, she was much bolder than Tyler. Tyler and Ambriel are both practical, but Tyler seems to have more common sense, vs. Ambriel’s street smarts. Julie is pretty practical, but she’s not quite as mature as Ambriel or Tyler.
On the other end of the spectrum, are students like the Flea, Zodon, Angie, and Ron Peterson, who are much more childish in their behavior or emotional maturity. Zodon may have one of the highest I.Q.s on Earth, but he’s got the emotions of a six year old. The Flea may be street smart and clever, but he’s too hyperactive to put it good use, unless he’s bugging (no pun intended) Praetorians. As gifted as Angie is, she’d rather slack off. Ron’s emotional reactional to his parents’ divorce has been hashed out plenty of times; suffice to say it is not an unheard of reaction for a nine year old to have.
Let’s see… a “normal” human woman, a “normal” human man (no hair- possible a more evolved version?), and “ape” man (note the opposing digits on the feet), and an evolved dinosaur (note the opposing digits on the hands [implied by the way it grips it’s weapon]). Hypotheses: multireality transdimensional police…
Not necessarily opposing digits on the feet of the ape man. To start, we can see the boot of the others butthe reptile one, so they could just wear toe shoes for everyone. And the toe we can see is not really opposing, just longer than a human one, as gorillas have in real world.
My guess is that it’s an intelligent gorilla, wearing confortable shoes but with no opposing toes.
I’m just looking forward to the fight scene at this point. 84 and the newly-enhanced Patriot should be quite entertaining to watch exert something approaching their full strength, and Guardian Angel honestly has some of my favorite in-battle quips. (I think she actually has better ones than the Flea, and that’s rather impressive.)
Cities are pretty hard to completely level. And on the opposite side of the spectrum it didn’t survive yesterday “intact” depending on how specific you want to get (I guarantee some potholes got bigger, at least two or three buildings got damaged and with a population of about half a million they should have had at least 12 people die).
So really, the more relevant question is how bad will the collateral damage be?
Hmm, local police or a side effect?

Transdimensional hopping S.W.A.T. does not necessarily mean super hero.
ISWAT from SJGames’s Infinity Worlds?

For those wondering how this is going to turn out, note the top banner image, and recall that she likes collecting ‘souveniers’…
Good eye Robin! Nice catch! Of course the banner doesn’t reveal how Ambriel acquires the harness and eyepiece, does it? 😀

There is no backpack, just the harness and eyepiece. It’s also spelled “recruited”; no “q”. 😀

Well, Zodon is six. Or he was five in issue #0, so he’s probably six now.
Team one Time Travelers… Will a new member be added to our hero’s team?
I fully support any and all dinosaur recruitment efforts.
Time travelers? Who said anything about any time travelers? Those are trans-dimensional travelers, not time travelers!
Looks like the party we had here Friday. We’re still cleaning up after it.

My brother will be glad to hear he is more evolved than we thought.
Stage one: we open the trans-dimensional portal and cross the event horizon!
Stage two: you guys go fight some people coming out of a trans-dimensional portal.
Stage three: ???
Stage four: Save alternate Omaha!
Stage three: Zodon steals something he wants/needs.

But will the city of Omaha survive a fight between 84, U.S.A. Patriot and Guardian Angel, and their Transdimensional opponents, intact?

Speaking of quips…. There should be a ps238 and Use Sword cross over… Epic quips!
