if |I had to guess, this Tyler either got orphaned at some point, or his parents got a clue-by-four in how to bring up a child. (I doubt his parents not having powers would nessecarily make them any better at bringing a kid up, so that’s probably not the difference)
The changing variable in all these universes seems to be what powers Tyler wound up with. In the last one, he seemed just short of a Reality Warper — too much power, too soon. In this one, he seems to have gravity manipulation abilities — lots of potential, but probably with a steeper learning curve. That would keep him humble, and put him more on the same level with the other kids.
I like this Tyler. He seems very close to the original in character.
