What, you can’t see the [SPOILER] on the next page? With it’s [SPOILER]? 😀
Sorry to keep teasing, but like I keep pointing out, if you guys would buy a copy of the “PS238 vol 9: Saving Alternate Omaha” TPB, you’d not only be able to read the whole saga at once (rather than waiting impatiently to be spoonfed snippets) you’d also be paying to put food on Aaron’s table! (I think. I’m not sure how the royalties work.)
Anyway, on with my comments for this page:
I love the way the different reactions speak volumes about these characters. Forak is aghast that any society would not only let mad scientists run amok, but store the fruits of their labors. 84 politely pointing out the hypocrisy of the Argosian royals killing or banishing their “Ultra-Thinkers”, but still enjoying the fruits of the Ultra-Thinkers’ labors. Plus, her discomfort with the fact that not only is she committing a crime by breaking into a warehouse, she’s breaking into Herschel’s warehouse! Ambriel looks like a kid in a candy store, wide eyed with glee as she contemplates all the wondrous gadgets and all the mischief she can get into with the accumulated gadgets, while Zodon nonchalantly provides exposition and U.S.A. Patriot marches silently, like a soldier.
For a while I’ve felt that Julie is one of the most honest and inspiring of the metaprodigies at PS238; unlike Ron or Forak, she is the true heir to Atlas’ role as a Superman expy. It’s not just her powers, it’s her sense of right and wrong, of moral outrage at people like Charles Brigman, Beryl, Lord Dax-Ra or Near-Mint, and her sense of innocence and emotional vulnerability.
On the other hand, Ambriel is the most adventurous of the kids. She marches bravely into the face of trouble, confident her “Guardian Force” will keep her out of trouble. She is basically Goslyn Mallard from “Darkwing Duck”, with the benefit of being protected from harm by her Guardian, and not getting scolded constantly by her benignly neglectful parent or her timid best friend.
Zodon is right in his element: he’s the smartest person in the room and everyone is paying attention to him. Will this last for long? Time will tell!
Those tricks only work on ‘Super-Thinkers’ and maybe ‘Hyper-Thinkers’, There’s only two know ways to get rid of ‘Ultra-Thinkers’… Either cut off their funding and pit them against each other for more; or ignore their inventions and then, when forcibly confronted with one, yawn and say “what a piece of junk” — causing them to leave in disgust.
There is a third. A small piece of metal (or other hard substance) injected into one’s cranial cavity at high speed is guaranteed to ruin one’s day (or more likely, shorten one’s life).
Not just any brass knucles, Defendium alloy brass knuckles. So they don’t break when Forak hits something. (They might break Forak’s fingers if he hits something though…)
And they’re all just sitting there… on shelves with no apparent protection. I hope the power supplies have been removed, necessary parts have been removed and they’ve all been deactivated and are awaiting proper disposal… Of course they aren’t. They’re just sitting there with no precautions, just waiting for the next evil super-genius to waltz in and pick them up. If it wasn’t for Guardian, I’m sure Zodon might have actually had to put some effort into this.
Well you can only protect vast amounts of uber power stuff so much… Besides everyone knows if you do a good enough job protecting the whole facility then individual items inside that facility are safe. It worked so well for the warehouse 13 project.
With THAT.
DUH-duh-DUH!!!!!

Ha, HA! DARKWING DUCK REFRANCE!
Well now you’ve gone and made me giddy. Happy?
…
Goslyn rules.
Clearly, they’re pointing at the reader. Zodon is going to break the fourth wall.
I wonder HOW they got rid of the ‘Ultra-Thinkers’.
Probably the same type of ship that Ron and Moon got.
super strength probably, its also how they became royalty probably. do this or i squish you. you super smart = squish
Probably some good old fashioned Phantom Zone projectors. If so, I bet the Ultra-Thinkers regret inventing them and showing them to the King. 😀

What are those things on Inept-Lad’s hands? Some kind of Brass Knuckles?
Super band-aids

Actually, most of the power sources have been pulled. Which is why Zodon invited one Dillon Fillmore along, as you’ll shortly see.
Why do I get the feeling they are about to see a 5 parted robot zooid or something on the next page.
Seeing that Omega makes me think of the Omegamatic from Commander Keen…now would be the right time for a sneaky reference in the back of one panel.
Guardian Angel has extra flexible ethics. She worries me more than Zodon because she’s careless.
