*sigh* Forget being having F.I.S.S. himself, it’s quite apparent that Forak’s super power is being a super toady, even when his mentor doesn’t want it. -_-
To be fair, a F.I.S.S. is more of a Swiss Army Knife; good at a lot of things, but not great at any one thing. Not as fast as a speedster, not as strong as a muscles-only, not as tough as a tank, but flexible enough to handle a lot of situations.
But yeah, a good team needs a few specialists to cover the inevitable holes.
Not all fiss are the same. Some are faster, stronger etc.
Great Swiss Army knife although only good for basics.
Great rescue team yet about average for fighting.
Some powers have a huge combat advantage over the fiss.
They will look good until they need rescued themself and what other super teams might do that?
There is quite a bit of difference between Superman, Captain Marvel/Shazaam and the Martian Manhunter.
Yet either of the would be a FISS.
For all intents a Green Latern could focus his power to work like a FISS – sacrificing verstatiliy for raw power.
What set’s FISS appart is that they are not equally good in all areas. That they might have secondary powers. And that they have skills beside being a FISS.
If Forak wants to be a toady, Julie needs to make a much stronger set of guidlines and/or talk to the teachers about saddling her with less common sense than a gerbil. Identity theft is a real issue and she shouldn’t have to parent him. Give him to an adult hero to annoy. Revenant would be fun.
On a side note I can’t think the real Atlas would like coming home and discovering how his hard-earned rep has been trashed. The dimwit should have his own name/costume so his idiocy is apparant. Too bad we can’t ask Toby to fix that with a suit that says “I’m with stupid” pointing up…
I’m getting the impression that as sweet and kind as Julie normally is, 84 is about to lose her temper. Apparently someone, besides Atlas II, isn’t smart enough to figure out that acting in someone’s name and not telling them about it is both stupid and arrogant.
Acting in someone’s name is tantamount to identity theft, and someone should (hopefully) see that and smack Forak down before he does even more damage than that he has already done.
Most kids her age have a much higher level than adults give them credit for. You forget that most adults consider anyone younger than them to be imbeciles and otherwise mentally challenged. Then they wonder why those younger than them treat them like idiots.
Like many other things, the apparent level depends on usage. I’ve known adults with much lower language skills, because they rarely use anything other than profanity for adjectives, adverbs, verbs and the occasional noun.
Similarly, I know kids younger than Julie who can do a lot of math in their heads. They were trained to do so by simply not letting them have calculators.
Not especially. My six year old still has occasional logicalizations of English grammar that don’t work, but otherwise his language is almost this sophisticated. Frankly, I think people underestimate kids’ intelligence here simply because sometimes they frequently don’t enunciate well and their aforementioned logicalizations that are actually bad grammar.
It’s interesting to see how many people seem to think Forak’s stupid, when he’s been proving quite skillful at arranging things and manipulating events to work out in favor of his plan. While he’s been broken down to be a lackey he’s also spent his life growing up surrounded by people who manipulate everyone around them as regularly as they breathe and he’s clearly learned a lot from it.
He’s used to people like him being respected as royalty, and as he’s already pointed out he sees 84 as WAY more deserving of such respect and treatment than his own people’s FISS, and the FISS of Earth in general. He’s also got the chance to make that happen using what he’s learned on his world, moving the FISS from ‘oh so you’re a FISS are you? How boring.’ to ‘Wow you’re a FISS?!’.
With only the teensly little issue that Julie never actually asked for or wanted him to complicate her life, and in fact already got upset with him over a similar stunt earlier, but apparently he interprets forgiveness as “I got away with it”.
From a less benign point of view, he’s building Julie up into the leader *he* wants her to be. He’s one of nature’s toadies and he knows it, but he’d much rather be the toady of someone /important/.
Which still just makes Forak inconsiderate not stupid, he’s clearly been quite successful in his machinations and to be fair albeit on the cynical side you can consider forgiveness as ‘getting away with it’.
Also to be fair it’s not like her teachers and parents and everyone else around her aren’t also trying to build her up how they want her to be, that’s just a natural part of growing up and life in general. Plus sometimes that’s how leaders are formed, by being thrust into the role rather than choosing it. While his execution is off by pushing her into the position at least he’s doing so because he has a desire to make positive changes rather than from evil intent.
Really it’s not that different than things with Tyler, he’s been forced by his parents and circumstances around him into becoming a hero when he really just wanted to grow up as a normal kid doing normal things and living a normal life. Julie by the same token is being forced by circumstances into being a role-model and icon for heroes with the same power-set as she has when she’d just rather live an uncomplicated life as a kid hero.
Encouraging growth, team building, and putting them in challenging situations is NOT the same as pretending to be her to start a group. Forak is NOT her marketing manager, nor her parent, nor even a trusted second in command. He is not maneuvering her for her benefit like Pennyworth or Revenant but so he can sucker off her reputation.
They should assign him to an adult team who wants needs a PR man. A child in trainign does NOT need it.
You’re reaching there, and where exactly isn’t it in her benefit for FISS like her to receive better respect and treatment than they currently get? The entire reason she named herself 84 in the first place was to try and combat the attitude that ‘oh just another FISS’ she was receiving and seeing other FISS receive (Zodon I think is even the one who dismissed her and her ’84th copycat powers’ because she was ‘nothing special’ as a FISS).
Yes she does look to have what it takes to be a leader amongst not just the FISS but her generation as well. Soon she’ll start seeing that it’s time to make the best of things, such as when she embraced her powers and took up her heroine name, and rather than simply reacting to events start taking control of them.
Hey, I’m a BIG fan of 84 too, but that doesn’t make Forak’s actions good. He’s overdue for a smack down, because he doesn’t understand that it’s NOT FISS vs everyone else. This isn’t his homeworld and he won’t make himself into a hero by doing these things. Julie is a leader because she chooses her own path, regardless of the common opinion. Morak is taking her choices away by deciding that she wants a team and that she wants a FISS only team. Making a reverse copy of anti-Fiss behaviors is JUST as bad. He is shifting away from harmless to minor villain as he is taking away her agency by making and publicizing his decisions.
More than a bit much to go and try and make him out as being villainous in behavior, and again he’s not a moron and I suppose I should point out that Forak DIDN’T start it, it was another FISS who created the original website and was fanboy gushing all over her and spreading flyers around about her and the website. Forak is simply swept up in things and the feedback he’s getting from 71, and his homeworld or not FISS ARE discriminated against on Earth as we’ve seen from early on in the comic. They are victims of marginalization and he wants to be part of ending that and part of that is having a strong positive role model to declare that ‘hey we’re just as good and valuable as everyone else!’.
I wonder what Julie’s parents are thinking about all this. Are they really oblivious of what’s going on with their daughter or are they actually comfortable with her hanging out with Creepy Stalker Atlas?
Ah I see. So everyone thinks 84 is prejudice against non-F.I.S.S.
I wonder just how big an idiot ball Forak has tucked in his belt pouch.
Maybe he has two idiot balls tucked in his super-thong.
They’re exceptionally tiny.
Yet very powerful in the stupid…
Very concentrated incompetence. Very dangerous.
He actually just has one big Idiot Ball sitting on top of his neck.
Ha!
And here we see Forak’s real superpower-weaseling out of things.
Well, remember who he trained under.
It is the only thing even greater then his ability to get into messes.
*sigh* Forget being having F.I.S.S. himself, it’s quite apparent that Forak’s super power is being a super toady, even when his mentor doesn’t want it. -_-
As much as I like the idea *theoretically* of an all F.I.S.S. team, I really think that any truly effective team would need more balance.
You never know when you’re going to need a tool that isn’t a hammer.
To be fair, a F.I.S.S. is more of a Swiss Army Knife; good at a lot of things, but not great at any one thing. Not as fast as a speedster, not as strong as a muscles-only, not as tough as a tank, but flexible enough to handle a lot of situations.

Team F.I.S.S – Jacks of all trades, but master of none.
I’d say Emerald Gauntlet is more of a Swiss Army Knife – he can replicate all FISS powers, AND has telekinesis and blasting.
There is quite a bit of difference between Superman, Captain Marvel/Shazaam and the Martian Manhunter.
Yet either of the would be a FISS.
For all intents a Green Latern could focus his power to work like a FISS – sacrificing verstatiliy for raw power.

She should just disavow the idiot. Her friends are non-FISS to start with.
Forak’s stupidity — and whoever else he’s working with — is undermining the good that Julie did! This is so infuriating! >_<
I’m getting the impression that as sweet and kind as Julie normally is, 84 is about to lose her temper. Apparently someone, besides Atlas II, isn’t smart enough to figure out that acting in someone’s name and not telling them about it is both stupid and arrogant.

Break the ground with his face, Julie. Then have your parents and the school sue him into oblivion.
I see that so far nobody has noticed that Julie’s language skills are much higher than her apparent age?
Most kids her age have a much higher level than adults give them credit for. You forget that most adults consider anyone younger than them to be imbeciles and otherwise mentally challenged. Then they wonder why those younger than them treat them like idiots.

Poor Julie’s way too young to have to worry about this sort of thing. She’s doing very well htough.
