Beyond the costume, I don’t see a lot of Tick in Flea (I mean, there is no evidence that he is either invulnerable or a moron, the two aspects that defined the Tick), and I see no similarity to Deadpool at all. (I mean, Flea isn’t homicidal, he isn’t bristling with weapons, I don’t recall his ever breaking the 4th wall, and most importantly, he’s sane.)
The strikes me a whole lot more of the classic Ditko Spiderman in fight mode (with a utter and complete lack of the off duty Peter Parker mode)
I see your point. I was more thinking along the lines of his ability to think outside the box and refer to things that other characters might not know about.
Excuse me? Flea IS invulnerable. At the start of the Las Vegas arc, he not only hitched a ride on a Praetorian jetplane, but survived said plane **shaking him off and throwing him to the ground.** Flea even bounced several times off mountains and a moose! The jet was tailing a commercial airliner, and those normally fly around 50,000 feet.
He’s made me think of a blend of Spidey and Ambush Bug since he was introduced, his wacky humor and total irreverence to the whole “superhero” thing is so perfectly a mix of their attitudes. Of course the clues have his dad as the PS238 verse version of Spidey.
I don’t know what it says about me, but a re-read of this page had me wondering just how Julie was going to redesign her uniform once puberty hits… If she doesn’t, no one will be able to read her number.
No, it’s only self-repairing. If you go back and read that page, the lady says that it “can be automatically resized for the lifetime of the garment at any of our stores.”
The snark is still strong in this one.
Flea, never change. 🙂
Someone’s been watching his classic movies.
Now y’see, that’s your problem. You should have stuck with the traditional beard made of bees.
The flea is like the combination of the tick and deadpool I never knew I needed.
I’d not thought of him in those terms before, but you’re right… that’s a pretty good description of Flea…
I also see a little bit of Spider-Man thrown in, but maybe that’s just me.

Fully agree here.
If Allejandro every goes Emo/Whiny like the current Parker, I’d stop liking him in a heartbeat.
*ever, dammit
Hey, everyone has to get through adolescence in their own way! Where else do you think hilarious blackmail material comes from?

I’d say he’s about 1/3 Spidey (on a good day), 1/3 Blue Beetle (mostly #2 but with a bit of #3 mixed in) and 1/3 Ambush Bug.
I admire your ability to include only insect-themed superheroes.
Well, arthropod-themed :P.

They’re so going to start their own team. It’ll be great!
Maybe they can get Moonshadow to join. Thet would be a real coup.
Here’s hoping! ^^
Moonshadow is officially “dead” after the Alien Invasion arc. Empty costume/uniform memorial and everything.
Nope! As of a few issues after that, he’s back!
O’ course, then he came back from the ‘dead’.
Somewhere in that school, a young Wolverine is going around trying to join each and every single team just so he can brag that he’s in so many.

The suit is self-adjusting, self-repairing and self-resizing. There shouldn’t be a problem.

I probably wouldn’t get along with Flea very well in real life, but is it ever fun to watch him happen to bullies and jerks big and small. ^^
And the latest entry for the TVTrope of Oddly Specific Denial is…
