No. Her powers come from whatever makes her a metaprodigy. The flagstaff was given to her by the Argosians. Like most stuff on Argos its designed to withstand the grip of an Argosian Royal. That means its very heavy, nigh indestructible and good for smashing [SPOILER]’s robots.
Star Girl, like Starman before her, is a normal human. Any powers she has came from her power staff.
Since Julie’s invulnerable that’s not really an issue. The robots are pretty tough and the Argosian metal the flagpole is made from makes a decent weapon.
From what we’ve seen so far the best thing that ever happened to Ron and his dad was being raised on Earth so they didn’t end up like all the other Argosians we’ve met.
If she really wants to hit things hard with that pole then she should remove the flag. The coefficient of drag from all that cloth against the atmosphere slows it down by a measurable amount.
I Julie’s defense, her branch of the Finster family specializes in economics and accounting, not on physics (nuclear or otherwise). Julie seems to have inherited her mom’s knack for diplomacy and her dad’s pragmatism.
Suzie, on the other hand, has inherited the nuclear irradiated genes of the other side of the Finster family but none of their grasp of biochemistry, nuclear physics, quantum mechanics or the common sense not to lick snow cones when you’re a self-generating nuclear reaction. 🙂
Isn’t the air resistance rather insignificant compared to her super strength, even when accounting for higher resistance due to higher speed? And she could’ve also turned the flag pole around and achieved pretty much the same effect, while sparing the flag, which seems to have taken some damage. But that wouldn’t look as cool, I guess? (Though who knows, maybe the butt of the flag pole has some kind of trigger when it connects with stuff? Wouldn’t want to set anything off prematurely.)
What ever happened to that power bat? What this world needs ,and maybe the other two worlds, is a visit by a ticked off 84 wielding the clue-by-four. (See Nodwick comics)
Maaaaaybe not Julie. The people she hits with it would probably Only have enough time to solve An algebraic equation before falling unconscious and dying of a concussion.
DruidDriver, you’re confusing Julie for Ambriel (aka Guardian Angel) and the Sinister Shortstop’s Bat for the Clue-By-Four. Ambriel’s powers are entirely defensive in nature. If she or anyone she is guarding are in danger, they are protected, but she prior to looting the Bat from Zodon’s Space Station she had no offensive powers.
Julie has offensive powers, namely superstrength, but that strength becomes even more damaging when she is wielding a weapon made of nigh indestructible material. Maybe one of the physics majors here can help me explain the science of how she’d have an easier time destroying robots with a quarterstaff?
I smell Another Test…
So…is 84 like star girl?
A what?
Is she like Star Girl? No. She does not need the pole, but merely gets enjoyment by using it to wreck things.

Actually if she’s still wearing the original Star Spangled Kid’s Cosmic Belt then she’s somewhat enhanced but otherwise your point is valid.
Still you can see 84’s point, all those bad guys and she has something that means she doesn’t have to risk bruising her knuckles!
And well baseball I suppose!
Since Julie’s invulnerable that’s not really an issue. The robots are pretty tough and the Argosian metal the flagpole is made from makes a decent weapon.
Well, that guy has Douche bag written all over his face.
I think that’s an Argosian cultural trait..
From what we’ve seen so far the best thing that ever happened to Ron and his dad was being raised on Earth so they didn’t end up like all the other Argosians we’ve met.
The “A” on the uniform stands for A holes… You know the same guys whose rejects wound up serving on Lord Helmet’s ship.
Lisa Larsen, interviewing Atlas: “What does the “A” stand for?”
Atlas: “It’s not an “A”. It’s the Argosian symbol for… Uh, General, what did you say it stood for?”
General: “Hope. Just tell her it stands for hope!”
If she really wants to hit things hard with that pole then she should remove the flag. The coefficient of drag from all that cloth against the atmosphere slows it down by a measurable amount.
Maybe Mr. Prisoner can use it for a blanket?

I get the impression that Kevin really misses recess!
Recess is very important for boys. Probably more so for super boys.

The power bat is Ambriel/Guardian Angel’s swag from Zodon’s “destroyed” space station, not Julie/84’s.
Maaaaaybe not Julie. The people she hits with it would probably Only have enough time to solve An algebraic equation before falling unconscious and dying of a concussion.

Quarterstaff? Thats a cheap weapon mine cost two bucks!
