Another morning that should have included a page update, but didn’t. This is getting a bit too common. I guess on Friday, Friday’s and Wednesday’s pages will go up, labeled like both went up on the days they were supposed to.
WOAH!
mage_cat, isn’t that kinda harsh for something that Aaron provides to us basically out of the kindness of his heart. No one MAKES him do this, after all…
Indeed. It would be nice if it were updated, and it’s most likely something in the code that’s screwing up. But complaining about something that you get essentially for free is a pretty douchey thing to do.
I’ll admit some finals strain getting to me, but the fact is that I follow a lot of webcomics. I understand that delays happen. However, every reason for those delays don’t apply here. The pages are complete and ready to post. He could upload them all and arrange for them to be posted automatically. The Foglios did just that when they made some of Phil’s older work available online.
As a grad student, I cannot afford to buy the print collections yet, but I hope to someday because I enjoy this comic. In the meantime, I visit the site and Aaron gets money from the advertising. This is pretty much the artist/reader agreement with all webcomics. In return for reader goodwill, the artist does their best to keep to the promised update schedule and, preferably, explains why an update is late when it happens. This is about the third time in the past month this has happened and do reason why has been given. I’m not upset. I just think it is a tad unprofessional.
I should add that I don’t think Aaron does this out of the kindness of his heart. I think he does this to generate interest in his work. This site is basically an advertisement for the print comics and an effective one. Keeping to the promised update schedule just makes it more effective.
Sir, I apologize if you take offense to what I am about to say but I can assure you no web comic creator owes you anything.
I have no problem with justified complaints, and I have no problem with you insulting, irritating, or teasing another human being. That’s just the way life is in this day and age.
Web comics are not usually “for profit” ventures. They’re “sanity” ventures.
Now, I realize you think money from advertising generates a passive income that allows Mr. Williams 40+hours a week of “free spirit” time. However, I sincerely doubt it.
Now with regards to update schedules being the artist’s promise, to quote another troll, “That’s just bunk, and you know it.”
People like patterns, people look for patterns. If they can’t find one they are troubled and unsettled. which is why I think you should stop thinking so much (for someone else no less) and just enjoy the moment.
Also, typo’s, grammar, and national socialism have no place on the internet. hater’s are going to hate. All people are different. And, no one owns the internet, (especially you) just thank God for small favors.
First, it’s ma’am, not sir. Second, you’re reading way more vitriol into my posts than I’m putting into them. Any further response from me will just be feeding a fire that I didn’t mean to be more than a light on a birthday candle. Should I even mention again that the page was first published in print years ago and just needs to be uploaded?
I have almost the complete comic run from first published, with only a few issues missing that my comic shop didn’t save, so I’ve already thrown money. (I’d like to throw more. Hint, hint)
As part of my collection was pinched and more in storage, I’m very glad to reread a favorite series. I think there may be a few fillers from Nodwick missing here, and the shop will not work/open due to IT admin. I will try to find another seller when finances improve, as I want to support those who self/small publish. Support your local artists!
I can’t wait to see how it all went wrong. ^^

Or you could buy the compilation and get everything at once.
Yes, he’s been late the last few weeks, but this is a free service he’s giving to his fans, so cut him some slack.

– Yeah, let’s complain about the free comics. There’s the sense of undeserved entitlement that so endears the internet to creators.

*no reason why has been given.
I hate when I don’t notice my typos until after I post.
