I don’t know, if you ask me, Moonshadow is way cooler than someone who actually has superpowers. Heck, even Batman has quasi magical powers he won’t admit too.
Of course, I’m of the opinion that everyone in comic books has some advantage that they aren’t yet fully aware of. For Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark it’s immortality, which I find ironic.
Tyler is odd one to place. Knowledge of other universes, possibilities, is not outside the reach of most human beings. So, it’s not really a super power. I refuse to acknowledge money as a superpower, it is a tool, quite possibly the greatest tool ever devised by man, but it is not a legitimate superpower.
However, if I were to guess, Tyler’s power is related to his birthright. Then again, that could be classified as luck, which is also not something i consider a super power.
Actually, now that I think about it, Super Position could be considered a legitimate super power…being two or more places at the same time could be a real talent if it weren’t for the fact that he was cloned and his twin doesn’t share all of the same memories…
So, I guess the real question is why do you think Tyler’s story won’t be well received by the rest of the class?
Because almost all of them see Moonshadow as the great hero with plus-super powers, and there is a subtle undercurrent of contempt for mundanes. Some of the other kids may feel he’s badmouthing their hero, whereas others are going to laugh their silly heads off.
Moon Shadow is a double-superhero! He goes to a secret class underneath PS 238, and has all kinds of wonderful powers, way better than normal old super powers. Tyler shouldn’t be writing about a superhero like that anyway, it’s SUCH a self-intert fic.
But truly, no powers is fine with me. Which of Tyler and Toby is happier right now? I think I’m a little surprised there aren’t more powerless heros, as both major comic universes have a bunch who don’t have any. So why is Revenant the ONLY one?
Batman, Robin/Nightwing, the Revenant, and Mood Shadow are all “superheroes” with no powers in universes where most superheroes have powers.
Captain America, Bucky, Black Widow, and Hawkeye have super powers that could be mistaken for simply being top tier human athletes rather than being super heroes.
Many inventor superheroes, such as Iron Man, have a level of output that goes far beyond what real geniuses can do, clearly taking it to the level of a super power. Some versions of Batman could fit into this category, but it’s my understanding that most versions of Batman don’t make all of their gear. Wayne Enterprises does that.
Various martial artists claim to be on this list, but also claim kung fu or chi powers that are clearly super powers.
I’m not aware of other “powerless” superheroes who operate in universes with super powers.
I’m not sure if Green Arrow belongs in that last category or the penultimate one. I’m not aware of anyone in his rogues gallery having super powers, but the Green Arrow possesses martial arts abilities beyond what’s actually possible for a human. (This is similar to Hawkeye’s ability to draw a 250 pound draw bow and still shoot it with inhuman precision. I’ll admit that I got that detail about Hawkeye while doing searches to find information for this response. In the movies he just looks like a rather ripped archer who somehow almost always hits, even despite environmental factors that would confound entirely human archers.)
Hate to break it to you, but medieval longbowmen used bows with up to a 400 pound pull. And they were extremely accurate as well. Put in enough practice and you can get there too. What’s BS for Hawkeye and Green Arrow (and others) is the trick arrows. You only have about six ounces to play with for the arrowhead before you wreck ballistic performance.
I get the feeling Tyler’s story won’t go down that well with his classmates…

Hero and martyr, that’s how they remember him.

Revenant is the only one who has enough money AND smarts to survive as a hero with no powers. Being wanted for questioning in 33 states isn’t easy.
