That theory about all people with flight, invulnerability and super strength having about the same genetic makeup as Argosians is starting to look a lot more likely… o_o
I don’t think it’s been said yet, but I’ve been thinking she might be an alien for a while. Did her parents find her in a field or something? I forget.
The ‘Argo’ power-set is the most common on Earth. They can’t all be ‘orphans of Argos’ so perhaps the original spaceship brought more than just an Argosian child. Perhaps it seeded Earth with Argosian DNA and many of the superpowers sprang from that (O.k. I have been reading too much Wild Cards)
Classic damsel rescue opportunity coming…maybe.
However, I suspect Argosians have may have been coming to the planet for a while and now powers are part of the genetic lottery.
I’m going to end the speculation right now: Julie is not affected by Argonite because she’s Argosian, she is affected by it because she’s a F.I.S.S. Why does Argonite affect human F.I.S.S.’s? That is revealed in the next issue.
For those who are confused by the speed lines/sound effects, Julie just lost consciousness and is plummeting to her death. The affects of the Argonite do wear off when you are a suitable distance to the Argonite, but the chunk of Argonite that Atlas “borrowed” from The Revenant is pretty big. Julie would not regain use of her powers, or consciousness before becoming street pizza. Tyler needs to save her.
You know, its really rude and juvenile of you to keep throwing in all these spoilers. You’re ruining the comments section for those who’ve never seen the hardcopies.
Well, lets see…
We know that:
1. Argonians forbid “wild talents”
2. Argonians enhance their nobility to be FISS.
3. Argonite shuts down argonians with super powers and humans with FISS
Seems obvious that argonite is just a FISS supressor and that human FISS have no relationship to argonion ones.
Does it ever go into detail about why American Eagle isn’t an FISS? (She is dismissive of Julie at http://ps238.nodwick.com/?p=612 and EG says “with Captain Clarinet”, not “with Eagle and Clarinet”.)
@Partigal: The real reason is much more interesting (and plausible). Julie is not half Argosian; Argosians did not engineer the F.I.S.S. gene. Look, you guys are looking for the answer in the wrong place. You’re all assuming that the answer is found in Julie’s ancestry, when the answer is staring you in the face.
Ok. Wild guest. Lord Daxx say to 84:”you could almost pass for a member of the court”, so maybe she is/were/will be the first argonian FISS and founder of the Royal Family after a time travel adventure.
Well, all I know is I don’t like it when people ruin the end of a book for me, so I try not to ruin people’s comics. Though the actual explanation is pretty cool. And devious on the government’s part.
@DruidDriver: Nice to know I’m not the only Tyler/Julie shipper! (And I think that romance has been developing since Moonshadow’s team took down Charles. Not that either Julie or Tyler are mature enough to realize that. π )
Ever since Moonshadow told Julie that she wasn’t useless back when they were first heading out to catch Charles, really. When he gave her a compliment afterwards it certainly helped too. Poor kid is kind of used to being dismissed as useless. What sort of message is that for people to constantly be telling a child? It’s no wonder she’s had some self esteem issues.
Flight Invulnerability Strength Speed. The most common set of powers (therefore not as “special”) 84 was an insult to her being the 84th person with those powers, but she embraced it with Moonshadow’s encouragement.

PLOT TWIST: Is she from Argon too?! O_o
(No, really is she? I may have missed something while reading earlier)
I don’t think it’s been said yet, but I’ve been thinking she might be an alien for a while. Did her parents find her in a field or something? I forget.
Actually, I don’t think much has been said at all.
*Argo

So someone else who was banned from Argo?
Given of the nature of ‘fun’ that gets one banned, and the fact she’s a little girl, I golly gee hope not.
*dive, grappling hook, catch*
Or just wait until she is out of range of the argonite
at first, I thought Moonshadow had already grappled her. Those movement lines confused me at firstβ¦
Thump thump thump? Did she just lose her powers or get turned into stone/frozen?
Classic damsel rescue opportunity coming…maybe.

Well, now you ruined every ones fun. Drat. In was getting interesting.
I know, right? π
(but on a lighter note, I still have fun with the captcha matching minigames that are required to post comments! π )

Not that I’m aware of, but I’m guessing the wings have something to do with it. Probably also lacking in invulnerability and maybe strength.
Opportunity for the legend to grow. Plus bonus romance potential. Well as romantic as cootie plagued ,munchkins can awkwardly absorb.
Seriously need to figure out a like button for this comment!
Concur’d.

That would be AWESOME!

I haven’t even noticed yet!
How about Julie going to the party with Toby / Tyler in “84 and the Nuclear Family”?
Ever since Moonshadow told Julie that she wasn’t useless back when they were first heading out to catch Charles, really. When he gave her a compliment afterwards it certainly helped too. Tyler has self-esteem issues to! How cute! They should go to therapy together!
Somebody needs to create a sarcasm font, stat.
Aww, they would be wonderful together.
Eightyforeshadowing? ;D
All Hail Her Royal Highness 84, Princess of Argo, Maiden of Might!
*Thump!*
i hate to say this, but what is F.I.S.S. it may explained eariler but i must have missed it.

Flight, invulnerability, strength, speed. And yes he is.
