84 might have a shot (she has been gaining plot devlopment after all). As for the “rocket ship”. It was near an evil cyborg when he was a child, modifided by the military only to blow up, and an entire similar teck came from a completly different alien race. So it’s a good shot to say that the data on the ship was pretty useless.
I’m wondering if Argonaut has either a sister or 84 might have a similar origin to Power Girl except the bit where the guys drawing her aren’t leches for the obvious reason…
No folks, Julie’s pure human. We’ve already met both her parents. You’ll find out the explanation behind this relatively soon. “Relatively” because this stuff always reads faster when you have it in a book in front of you, but still it’s only a few pages.
In the comments, I note a lot of people wondering about Argonian ancestry in 84. (For the record, all I’ve read is what’s available here.) Considering past conversations in the strip, it seems more plausible that all Numbers are susceptible to Argonite (or whatever it actually is), and that Argos is a world where the Numbers took over and took steps to expunge all non-Numbers from the population somehow.
The alternative would be that all Numbers are somehow descended from Argonian ancestry, since there’s been nothing to suggest that 84 is different from other Numbers–rather, how well their powers match each other’s (hers included) is why they’re grouped together as Numbers in the first place.
(…though wait, shouldn’t Argonaut also have a number by that reasoning? I may have missed something. Hmm.)
Atlas and Argonaut both, although they may have waivers as aliens. On the other hand, Tyler’s parents seem to be pretty close to the FISS standard (with the addition of some kind of energy beams), so who knows?
My guess is that Argosians developed powers like Earth did, only there the FISSers took over, suppressed the other powers, and made themselves into a planetwide nobility.
Haven’t read the books at all, I’m just guessing. But I think all the world building we’ve seen with FISS powers supports the theory.
I figure this is also somewhat supported by the fact that FISS powers are so common. If that was true with ancient Argonians, it would make sense for FISS powers to be seen as ‘normal’ superpowers and all other power combos as being ‘abnormal’ or ‘feral’.
See? Ron’s dad was kicked off due to royal power struggles.
And now we see that 84 was injured by that laser blast… or suffering from the effects of the argonite, putting her ancestry in question.

Where are you getting all that?
…Can’t find it right now but, somewhere in the first dozen books or so, there’s a remark that hints there’s some Argonian in 84’s ancestry.
When? What was it? Wouldn’t that make Suzy some what argozonien too?
Not necessarily. Only descendants and siblings share your entire ancestry. Cousins have at least half of them coming from somewhere totally different.
Julie’s pure human.
Not if her mother “played around” with the big boy at some point.
Maybe she was adopted by the feuding family of “freaks”….
I don’t think so…

PLEEEEEEASE don’t make his backstory a Dragon Ball Z knockoff Aaron, for the love of god please don’t.

It also reads faster if you’re not reading the comments that other people wrote about it.
So was she injected with Argosian dna either before she was born or after birth and thats the source of her powers?
Nope, sorry.

Does anyone else find the planet Argos vaguely amusing…or don’t you have chains of that store in the USA?
All I can think of is a rather off-color song called “banned from argo” but let’s not go there, this is a pg comic at worst.
