Obviously not, if you live in a world with superheroes. Just getting exposed to radiation leads to powers and maybe insanity, not cancer.
To paraphrase one of Jules Verne’s technocrats “It’s radiation, but not ORDINARY radiation.”
Hah, of course he used to be a test pilot. Apparently in this universe’s Abin Sur is more of a jerk than DC’s, though. 😛
Abin Sur prevented that by dying. That leaved the jerkishness to Oans and Sinestro.
