Yawn… fire, gas, lightning. The only thing exotic for him is the art of fisticuffs, preferably delivered from a fast flying foe with enhanced strength. :3
Pretty much, yeah. He’s a magic-using deity — brute force isn’t even funny to that sort of opponent. They prefer someone who actually has a chance to out-think them.
Of course they get stomped. they don’t have any backstory yet. People without backstories are basic cannon fodder, even if the cannon is a millennium or 2 old & born out of a non-mainstream culture.
Take your bets everyone and guess how many pages they last. My bet is two! One for a beating and the second to leave as the elemental combo takes the credit for “making” him leave!
That might normally work, but every FISS in the world has apparently decided that 84 is just who they need to call attention to problems in the metahuman community. They’ll credit her with Veles leaving whether she did it or not.
She’ll probably do it, of course, because Julie is gearing up nicely to the job.
If so then we must ponder the question: who has a larger superiority complex, the super-genius megolomaniacl son of a super-genius megolomaniacl dictator, or a god that seems to have a minor obsession with finding a “worthy” opponent?
I suspect it’s not that she’s going to be selected as champion – it’s that she’s going to put herself in his way to protect someone… because that’s totally her thing…
I like the idea of Veles enrolled in school. BUT we already have the scion of chaos in addition to Hestia. Besides, the “trickster” would be bored with both super villians at ps-238
I guess Meson is the leader or something.
And he insited they all follow the -on naming sheme.
I mean the other 3 are all named after Elements (real or theorethized ones), while he is named after a sub-atomic particle.
It was propably Phlogiston that fired right now (pun inteded). The name is based on an old theory for a “burning” Element (Phlogiston theory).
Phlogiston was the name given to oxygen when it was first isolated, is promoted burning. There are three magnetic metals: iron, nickle and cobalt. If there is enough cobalt in the armour, a good magnetic field should take him out of action. Xenon is a very heavy, chemically inert (mostly) gas. I wonder if his namesake will just stay out of the action.
Charming and manners, she is respectable, as opposed to the yahoos. If this is a seasonal challenge without real ill will, like the turning of the new year or years of the Christmas spirit in Christmas Carol. Meson and company want a polarized battle so they can kick butt. It’s about showing their power, not what Veles wants.

So he prefers a brain vs a power set.

You know who the ultimate of having a brain rather than a power set is? Moonshadow. That said, he’s more likely to choose 94, at present…
*84. Sorry, typo.
Check your targets, guys! Sheesh! I know she’s invulnerable, but not THAT invulnerable!
She could always hide behind the “bad guy”, it looks to be the safest place.
I need some popcorn for this take-down of those cocky illiterates.
Yeah, these guys are going to get stomped.

Yeah just make’n a prediction here, 84 is going to kick his @$$, and therefore be the new champ.
I can’t help but think that Julie is going to end up selected as Veles’ “champion to fight”. That’s just the way this story is playing out.
I also suspect that since his new ‘champion’ is a child, Veles will deage himself to match her… and PS-238 is going to get a new student.
If so then we must ponder the question: who has a larger superiority complex, the super-genius megolomaniacl son of a super-genius megolomaniacl dictator, or a god that seems to have a minor obsession with finding a “worthy” opponent?
If that actually is Veles as described in the original myth, it’s not exactly an obsession.
It’s his purpose. Veles has to fight Perun (or, in this case, a replacement :P). It is part of the cycle of seasons.
As I mentioned before…Veles was very much regarded as a good guy. So was Perun. They were just opposing forces.
I suspect it’s not that she’s going to be selected as champion – it’s that she’s going to put herself in his way to protect someone… because that’s totally her thing…

And what’s with all the -on names? I begin to see why numbers for names is so attractive…
So they could be members of -On Anon?
All the good team naming themes were already taken.
I guess Meson is the leader or something.
And he insited they all follow the -on naming sheme.

Meson is a subatomic particle.
Xenon is a noble gas.
Phlogiston is an alchemical element.
Cobalt-tron is probably a battle armor made of cobalt steel.
Phlogiston was thought to be the element that made flammable stuff flammable.
Interesting set of the four elements…
From their look and colour schemes, you’d expect Meson to be Fire (Plasma?), and Phlogiston to be Water. Xenon as Air, Cobaltron as Earth.
It’ll be interesting to see if the flame blast was thrown by Meson or Phlogiston.
If it was Meson who threw a blast of ‘exotic particles’, I think it quite amusing that Veles can simply treat it as elemental fire. 🙂
My vote is for 84 to be his new nemesis – brain plus brawn. Or perhaps common sense plus brawn, but close enough.

I am torn.
On one hand having one of the F.I.S.S. get the role will be a huge bump for them as a whole.
On the other hand Moonshadow is the one that thinks his way through problems.
Fiss team+Moonshadow?? that is a great team!
waitaminute!! how did i get that avatar??? when i log in here from where???
