Those Argosian palace guards are nothing to laugh at. They each have the same powers as Atlas and 84 (though I doubt they’re quite as powerful as Atlas). But they still need to breathe and thanks to their superstrength they have a tendency to breathe in more gas than other people (greater lung power; its how the Golden Age Superman was originally able to use his “super breath”).
But they’re described as softlings: “Prisoners secure. They’re two softlings from the sculleries.” Are those the palace guards, or are those two other prisoners? And I thought softlings was the term for those without FISS superpowers? Or is that just another word for “peasant” — i.e. they don’t have royal blood but they still have FISS superpowers?
The guards (with royal power) got knocked out. The resistance guys used the guards communicator to fool the guard security center. There’s no softlings from the sculleries.
the resistance guy is using the radio of a guard to report in that the two people the guards were sent after (the kids) had been captured.. and turned out to be just two mundane servants. basically making sure no one would realize the guards hadn’t reported in yet, and making sure no more guards would be sent to help.
sure beats “we got a reactor leak down here, big leak, very dangerous”..
Noticed it too: In Panel 4/the big middle panel you speak of “A pair trio […]emerges from the shadows”. I think you meant “a trio […] emerges from the shadows”, as they are really three.
The numbers probably rank the potency. 1 thru 4 being less for less robust humanoids which is probably a good thing adjusting any sedative based on the target to avoid giving them something too powerful while still having something that will effect tougher opponents:
They’re not necessarily all viable formulas. #5 might only mean that it was the fifth attempt at making one that worked. Presumably the general trend would be to get better with successive releases, but there might be some exceptions – #3 could be a total dud, #4 works really well but only on VERY specific people, #5 might be slightly less effective than that but with a much broader spectrum – just for example, no idea what the case actually is.
Oh wait, there were only the Henchmen that got knocked out so the good guys coulds steal thier uniform. Never mind them hitting then.

And then in the panel immediately before they are described as having “royal powers”. Confused.

Thank you both – no longer confused!
They might be as powerfull as 84. But right now, they seem to suffer from conservation of ninjutsu (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ConservationOfNinjutsu). Just too many of them on one side.
Turn them out in the streets… talk about entitled baddies! Great job Revenant. Love how ernest MoonShadow is.
“Your friend is a genius.” Of course; he’s the gosh-dang Revenant. 🙂
Beat me to it.
Panels 2 and 3 made me laugh like an idiot. Well played
“Pair trio”?

means 6
“drag the sticks to the drum”
the drumsticks and chopsticks look nearly identical in this picture…
Good to know you figured it out.
I’m driven to wonder… what are Nockemout Number 1 and Number 2 designed to work on? And… are there higher Numbers?

Or from knocking out the normal guy you want to interrogate for several hours.

It’s a crack based on Chanel #5. Buy some, the lady in your life may thank you in…special ways.
