from the tiny bit we know of them. haven’t seen much yet other than their immediate recruitment of alien children to their war and teh fact that initially they were going to take his gauntlet by stripping out the organic contaminant’s flesh until he showed the capacity to harm them if they tried
So. All Moon Shadow needs to do is get his cape unpinned from the wall, save Ron’s life, find a way to get 84 and Kevin back home, and broker a peace treaty between two warring alien races.
84 and Kevin seem to be making a start on that peace treaty idea, at least…
Moonshadow and Ron are going to have problems of their own. A lot of problems, the first of which is evading Dax-Ra’s Death Squad. Julie and Kevin will have to solve this problem without Moonshadow’s help.
As for a peace treaty… next issue you’ll see why that might be tricky. Even with their proxies refusing to fight each other, the Argosians and Emerald Ones would still try to do so. If they could. Which they can’t.
Moonshadow is real popular for some reason. Every time there’s some big problem everyone’s all “Let’s see how Moonshadow’s going to solve this!” I imagine that Tyler finds it a little wearying, but not enough to stop being Moonshadow. He’s too responsible to ever do that.
Well looks like Moon Shadow has been a good influence on 84. She just learned to point out the obvious instead of going into a long and complicated battle/monolog. Not only that she also raised a few good points.
She’s also going to raise some interesting questions about the Argosians on the next page. She’s saavy enough to realize that something isn’t kosher with Dax-Ra and his pals.
I think these perpetual war types all sound alike after a while, they don’t really know why they are fighting in a nearly infinite universe. Both side are perfectly willing to sacrifice any outsider to serve their goals. Obviously they don’t value alien children, only use as pawns.
Leor613, please preface the comments on upcoming events with a ***SPOILER WARNING***.
While some of us have read ahead, not everyone has and you are killing a lot of surprises…
I don’t know – I haven’t read ahead at all, but most of what Leor613 has said is more “confirming foreshadowing” than “killing surprises”. After all:
(1) The sniper’s scope crosshairs on Ron’s head on the previous page pretty much imply that one or more assassins are (or will be) after him, and unless the Revenant really does have a hyperjump-capable spaceship idling nearby Tyler’s naturally going to be caught up in it.
(2) Julie and Kevin teaming up is a gimme.
(3) Kevin’s end-of-page question just begs for Julie to come to a similar “something’s not right here” self-revelation.
(4) The parallel of “highly powerful race sends single human kid into battle as proxy” implies a parallel of less-than-honorability.
That said, Leor613 – please be more careful with spoilers. I do like at least a little uncertainty and suspense when “turning the page”.
Sorry about that. I’ve mostly been redacting the most spoiler-y things to keep the surprises from being revealed. For example, I haven’t mentioned that Ron gets [SPOILER]. Or that Julie and Kevin encounter [SPOILER]. Or that Atlas decides to [SPOILER] after [SPOILER]. Or that [SPOILER] becomes the new [SPOILER]. Or that Zodon assembles a team of students to [SPOILER] Omaha. (That last one isn’t actually a spoiler if you do a search for PS238 titles on Amazon.)
I think that those are vague enough that nothing is actually spoiled. For example we could play PS238 Madlibs with those hints:
1) Ron gets a new video game system for his birthday.
2) Julie and Kevin encounter existential anxiety in the story that could only be titled: “Day of the Angst-storm!”
3) Atlas decides to get a new costume after meeting the Court tailor.
4) Coach Rockslide becomes the new librarian at Excelsior Public School!
It’s like Coach Rockslide always says: “The bad guys are the ones trying to smash your face in. Or the ones trying to smash an innocent bystander’s face in.”
PS: That’s why Coach Rockslide teaches combat and Ms. Kyle is teaching ethics.
I think Julie seeing it so easily is partly because it’s easier to see the loopy ideas on the other side… and partly because she’s been disappointed more by what others tell her that she’s more suspicious.
Of course! I have plans if he doesn’t. Turns out the Emerald ones also enjoy reading the occasional PS238 Volume, and them and I have an agreement. Let’s just say that if Aaron ever announces that he will NOT make another volume , he should get out of his house quickly, before a certain space beam hits it.
Kevin gets confused and his first thought is to wish for Alex to be there to help him. Sounds like somebody has a crush on an aspiring supervillainess and hasn’t figured it out yet. Or maybe I’m just projecting a longtime thing for dangerous women…meh, whichever.
I’m pretty sure neither side in this war is wearing a pristinely white hat.
On balance, the Emerald Ones seem marginally less contemptible.

In their defense, those were AIs, it seems, and those have a reputation for being… prone to oddities and ‘quirks’ regarding ‘fleshlings’.

Why moon shadow? Can’t 84 and eg handle this one on their own? Like I said before, he is about to have his own problems

He’s cool. Like bow ties.
Yep. They have lots of common ground… Like… Both being mostly jerks?
Actually, why are they fighting? Has it been revealed?
The origin of the conflict between the Argosians and the Emerald Ones hasn’t been explained as of this page of this issue.

I’m seeing something similar to the Rutans and the Sontarians from “Dr. Who.” They’ve been at war for so long, they’ve forgotten why.
I think these perpetual war types all sound alike after a while, they don’t really know why they are fighting in a nearly infinite universe. Both side are perfectly willing to sacrifice any outsider to serve their goals. Obviously they don’t value alien children, only use as pawns.
Hm, they ARE growing up…
Okay, Julie and Kevin have had their obligatory battle, now’s the part where they team up. 🙂
Well, OF COURSE it’s gonna sound crazy if you say it like that…
Leor613, please preface the comments on upcoming events with a ***SPOILER WARNING***.
While some of us have read ahead, not everyone has and you are killing a lot of surprises…
Thats okay some of us don’t have a clue what you’re spoiling!
And ditto on now they team up and go for both sets of bad guys!!!

See, no spoilers!
Kevin, bless his heart, isn’t very good at this debating thing, is he?
Oh thats what you meant!
Should be interesting but maybe you should listen to Rick… a little bit at the very least!
It’s not confusing at all, the good guys are the ones whose side you’re on and the bad guys are the ones who aren’t. It’s always been that simple.
…THAT is why there is a ps238.
It’s like Coach Rockslide always says: “The bad guys are the ones trying to smash your face in. Or the ones trying to smash an innocent bystander’s face in.”
PS: That’s why Coach Rockslide teaches combat and Ms. Kyle is teaching ethics.
Bystanders are only innocent if they live in your country and are civilians. Otherwise, totally evil.
.. I hope your kidding.
I think Julie seeing it so easily is partly because it’s easier to see the loopy ideas on the other side… and partly because she’s been disappointed more by what others tell her that she’s more suspicious.
I dont know if this is the right place to post this but do you guys think that Aaron is ever gonna publish a new ps238 collection ?
Of course! I have plans if he doesn’t. Turns out the Emerald ones also enjoy reading the occasional PS238 Volume, and them and I have an agreement. Don’t go to the police. Their in on it too.
Kevin gets confused and his first thought is to wish for Alex to be there to help him. Sounds like somebody has a crush on an aspiring supervillainess and hasn’t figured it out yet. Or maybe I’m just projecting a longtime thing for dangerous women…meh, whichever.
Or he’s just really stupid. Which seems likely, since he’s getting a C in Homeroom.
Not stupid! Just not an enthusiastic learner. Actually, we learn a little bit more about that throughout the next issue.
And I get grief for giving spoilers!
What spoiler?
