I dunno. Being Captain qualifies as “the cool stuff” in this mission. Just not ALL of the cool stuff. Thinking of it in terms of an RPG, all the PCs need a chance to shine.
Anybody else got the theme from that one movie which had a young boy who was called up to fight against an evil empire by flying a fighter? You know …… “The Last Starfighter”.
What do you mean Captain Kirk never flew a fighter? He ALWAYS flew a fighter. All the Star Treck battles where between larger ships like the enterprise.
Battle Star Galactic was the one with little fighter ships.
ah, but that like all other ships in the federation fleet was a peaceful science vessel, you can tell by the way they stuff them full of children and families. it just happened to be bristling with guns and flown into combat zones on occasion through pure coincidence. the federation doesn’t do that sort of thing(a facade, reading between the lines its another totalitarian story but the facade is pretty)
or was that picard’s enterprise? I watched them so long ago. but as I type I think more and more it was tng. the original series seemed much better
That’s an important life lesson there, management doesn’t always get to do the really cool stuff.

The Headmaster’s true opinion of his would-be blackmailer is showing through…!
I still think there’s a contingency plan materializing.
I know how he feels, who *doesn’t* want to fly a star fighter. Forget being captain, *that’s* the really cool job, lol.
A friend of mine would agree with you. He has a kill log going back to D6 Star Wars.
Not me. Captain all the way. I don’t have the reflexes to be a fighter pilot. I wouldn’t enjoy trying.

😛
the one where tired of losing men they pressed an alien child into their war and got him to do the genocide for them?
Except he was not the pilot, he was the gunner/EWO; in other words, he shot, he didn’t fly.
He was the pilot which in a fight is all the GUNNER. he wasn’t the RIO/Navigator that was his partner.
Also he wasn’t a kid, he was a Teen, Possible of enlistment age for his species anyway.
I can’t help but think the headmaster is stalling.
You think so. . .’I can’t imagine why??’
Alexandra also thinks that DA RULES do not apply to her.
The Headmaster knows which ones he can use on her.
