Who wants to bet that Ron’s dad was shot off-planet because he was one of many princes and someone wanted to save his life before he was killed in a succession war?
I’ve always wondered where that King Arthur/Star Wars/ Dragonball Z/ Wilde Young King myth started… You know where the king to inherit was raised in abject poverty, or at least in as much poverty a farmer experiences, only to be placed on the throne with absolutely no diplomatic, military, or political training. And, yet still, somehow they only half understanding the sacrifice of the working class, which considering the background with which they were raised seems ridiculous. Because of this odd deficiency, they are a better king than the last, ultimately always in need of the advice of a wizard, counselor, or higher authority.
While I am pro democracy, I am not pro ignorance, this myth bothers me for some reason i cannot explain. However, in response to Rock’s question I guess I’m gambling that people scientifically or magically advanced enough to travel between worlds would have a less primitive governmental system. Although, one could argue that the reason science was allowed to advance more rabidly on the other world than here on earth was the lack of a pecking order, and the fact that the entire population consisted entirely of metahumans.
It actually goes back to Ye Olde Ancient Tymes, when the king was someone selected by lot to serve as strongman for the High Priestess (usually of the moon goddess) for a year, before being sacrificed to ensure the crops were plentiful. Read Robert Graves if you want to know more.
Congrats earth! Your only safe non genocidal alien… just brought an entire intergalactic war of succession with much more advance and dangerous weapons to your front door. (and unlike superman these aliens are more than three people)
Why does everyone keep forgetting the Solar Crusader? He’s an alien too, and unlike Prospero he hasn’t tried to destroy Earth or involve it in an interstellar war. It’s so unfair. 🙁
It’s because the Solar Crusader is so well known and so frequently mentioned in comic that a google search only turns up two links, one of which is the Super_Hero_Teams page off of the associated fandom site for this comic, and the other is the tvtropes page for this comic. It’s notable that on the Super_Hero_Teams page, Solar Crusader is just listed as a member of The Cosmos Legion, which has no other member and no other references. I’m not sure why the pages with you asking why people keep forgetting this not really mentioned hero don’t show up, but it feels like there just isn’t a lot out there about them.
while I doubt it is how things will go, I’d love for this to go away from the cliche’d plot and have Ron’s dad have left because he was the only one with super powers (the rest just have tech) and didn’t want to slaughter his own family nor have his kids grow up with powers in that culture, only to have that culture follow him to earth.
Also, I suspect it’s a good thing that the praetorian academy doesn’t know the full scoop on what’s happening right now.
That PA girl is losing her independant initiative as we watch. Her family sound like theyconsidered her a witch/Carrie/monster. I’d love to see her transfer.

That, and the big unpleasant fellow mentions ascension to the throne as something that Ron’s dad’s family might be capable of.

Graves pulls a lot of his “reinterpretations of myth and history” out of unsanitary places.

Are the Argosians secretly Viltrumites? They don’t really have the requisite moustaches., but they sure as hell have he attitude.
No it’s just a common deconstruction of Superman/Kryptonians.
