I just noticed
The Revenant sigil is really more of a P than a R, or maybe both. And it has an eye in it.
R.I.P.? Revenant?
Is that a deliberate pun, or am I digging too deep?
None of the above. Revenant has a thing for classic rock, remember? It’s the logo for the Alan Parsons Project album, “Eye in the Sky”, reversed. Considering how Rev gets around, it’s a totally appropriate reference.

Going from the largest component to the smallest; it’s an ‘R’, a ‘P’ and then an eye = Revenant P.I. ; which might be a reference to Detective Comics…

I always thought it was a nod and riff on the oldest superhero with an ‘R’ as a logo. Also a nonpowered detective more balanced than his mentor.

It’s the Eye of Horus from Egyptian Mythology, which IIRC is explained in the short story by Michael Stackpole where Revenant debuted.
